Hillel Zori
Hailed by the renowned cellist Bernard Greenhouse to have "all of the wonderful attributes of a young Emanuel Feuerman," Hillel Zori has distinguished himself by winning coveted prizes in many international competitions including the Gold Medal and First Prize at the 1986 Maria Canals competition in Barcelona.
A member of the celebrated Israel Piano Trio, Mr. Zori serves as the Head of the Strings Department at the Buchmann–Mehta School of Music in collaboration with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Since his debut in 1984 with the Israel Philharmonic under the baton of Zubin Mehta, he has been invited to perform with all of Israel’s top orchestras. Abroad, he played has with the Dusseldorf Symphony and the BBC Scottish Symphony orchestra, to name a few. Mr. Zori has toured extensively the USA, Europe and the Far East and he is a frequent guest at many festivals such as the Kfar Blum, Marlboro, and the Dartington festivals.
A winner of the AICF annual awards, Hillel completed his studies "cum laude" with Prof. Uzi Wiesel at the Israel Rubin Music Academy and continued his studies at the New England Conservatory with Bernard Greenhouse. Hillel Zori plays on an old Italian cello made by Andrea Guarneri which belongs to the late Laszlo Vincze, one the founding members cellists of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, loaned to him by courtesy of the America Israel Cultural Foundation.
