The
artistry and spirit of Arthur Rubinstein has been preserved for eternity
in his myriad recordings. But his own words are perhaps more telling than
his legendary genius, "I'm passionately involved in life - to be alive,
to have music, to walk, to see - it's all a miracle. Music is not a hobby
not even a passion. Music is me."
Sealed with the name of this colossus of the music world, our Competition
is a symbol of the commitment to keep alive the spirit of Arthur Rubinstein
beyond his death. To commemorate his unprecedented legacy of music and
humanitarianism, the Competition aims at fostering the most promising
of today's young master pianists. For them, Arthur Rubinstein remains
as the supreme artist.
These are the young people who play a crucial role in preserving the
tradition of great music and it is with them that Rubinstein always
expressed a unique communion.
Worldwide Concert Series
The "Hommage a Rubinstein" concert series began with the acclaimed
"Hommage a Israel - Hommage a Rubinstein" - a special recital, granted
us by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, to inaugurate the First Competition
(1974).
Since Maestro Rubinstein's death in 1982, a great many artists, including
our own Competition laureates, have played in tribute to the Maestro.
All proceeds from this series are donated to the Competition International
Fund.
