The Tenth Arthur Rubinstein
International Piano Master Competition
20 March - 4 April 2001

The Tenth edition will be a significant milestone in our history, particularly as it is to take place in the  1st  year of the 21st  century.

For this  event, we received  850 official enquiries from pianists across  52 countries.  Full documentation was submitted by a record 185 candidates from 44 countries.

The Artistic Advisory Committee, headed by Prof. Arie Vardi, then selected 53 candidates (average age 26.5 years) representing 24 countries to compete for the Arthur Rubinstein Award. These pianists have achieved important prizes in other international contests and have also appeared in recitals and concerts in many different countries.  All the competing pianists in the 10th contest will be allowed a free choice of repertoire based on fixed guidelines and will play works that portray their individual artistic personality.

Israeli Composition

Since its inception (1974), the Rubinstein Competition has commissioned, financed and published 15 works by Israeli composers. The obligatory repertoire pieces in the contest are also premiered by us.  In keeping with the rules and regulations, the competitors will choose either: "Tone - Alleys" by Ben-Zion Orgad or "Memories" by Oded Zehavi for performance in the 10th Competition.
